Welcome to Minerva Art Gallery

Many clients ask where the name Minerva stems from. First off, it is not my name. I have always had an interest in Archaeology since high school. My first traveling trip, only 17 years old, was to Egypt. Got my first taste of Classical art, and fell in love with the gods and goddesses of ancient times. My favorite reading material was an art history magazine called Minerva. On a trip to England, I had the opportunity to visit the Roman Baths. Since I was a card-carrying member of the Archeological Institute of America, (you get a card when you subscribe to Minerva Magazine) I had the chance to work at the site and found out the Baths were dedicated to the Goddess Minerva. When I decided to open my own business, I couldn't decide on a name: possibilities were Apples and Oranges, Sketches, Morrell Art Gallery. My main competition at the time was a gallery in London called Athena Gallery. The Greek name for Minerva is Athena. How could I resist. That name has followed me around for years.
