Born in Yorkshire, England 1956 Brian’s love of the countryside was instilled early growing up in the lush Yorkshire Dales .Trips to England provide him with the refence and inspiration to paint these intimate scenes. Moving to Burlington Ontario when he was seven , Brian embraced the rural landscape of the Niagara Escarpment and along with an active 4th Burlington scout troop, he hiked and camped all throughout the Bruce trail , exposing him to the many rural farms that inspire him to this day! Soaking up his environment he spends time observing, doing small studies that help him understand details for a larger painting. Composition is critical to his well developed pieces and studying the many greens in nature has given him a keen understanding of its subtle nuances. Using the finest pigments from around the world he now  paints exclusively with oils on fine linen ” I love the challenge of painting that luminescent , spiritual time of the day when sunset is almost upon us and the landscape seems so peaceful !

Influences of Andrew Wyeth, , Raymond Ching and Alex Colville all seep into his fine paintings . Studies at Doon School of Fine art, Art Gallery of Burlington, Dundas Valley School of Art and Sheridan College completed his early  formal education.
